Our 2014 Summer Reading Program for children in grades pre-K and older is set to begin. This year’s theme is science and exploration. The program is a great way to have some summer fun and acquire a life-long love of reading.
We end the program with a repeat visit by our friends at Green Meadows Farm and their delightful farm animals.
Upon registration, Summer Reading Program participants receive a reading log in which to record either the number of minutes read or titles completed between May 31 and September 13, 2014. For each book completed or 60 minutes of reading, a small incentive is awarded.
Program participants may present their reading logs to the circulation staff or to the children’s librarian in order to receive a prize. The Library staff may informally quiz the participant on the content of the books.
Throughout the summer months, the Library staff will be available to recommend age-appropriate titles to participants. Suggested reading lists from several area schools will also be on hand.
